This post has been edited by a moderator. The user posted a comment stating that they believe debris from vegetation trimming has been left on a number of graves. Unfortunately their choice of words, relating to disability, when describing the issue are not welcomed on the forum.

Hi 'appyammer',
The groundstaff always do their utmost to ensure the cemetery is maintained to a high standard, and everyone who buys a plot is informed of the following:
"The Town Council’s groundsmen maintain the grass in the cemetery but cannot be held responsible for grass mowings that blow onto grave plots. It is the responsibility of the owner of the grave plot to ensure it is kept tidy."
I would also request that you edit and rephrase your complaint please. There is no need for comments referencing visual impairment, or for any form of rudeness.
Thanks, Adrian

A very interesting response. If that is the groundstaffs best then their best isn't good enough. This isn't about grass cuttings blowing onto the headstones this is about the area being decimated with strimmers and the cuttings being spread as a result of their actions. It is about memorial wreaths being removed from plots and left discarded on the footpaths.

You seem to have added a new element to your complaint.
It may be best for you to communicate your various complaints to WTC directly.
You can phone the office or email any councillor. Details of both on WTC website.
Then the matter can be investigated and a full response provided to you.

Hi appyammer, I’m responding to your post as both a resident of Wivenhoe and a moderator of this forum. I appreciate the emotional impact the state of the cemetery would have on those with loved ones buried there, and if floral tributes have been removed and left in the footpath that sounds unacceptable. As Adrian suggests, your best approach would be directly to Wivenhoe Council. We aim to encourage open and civil discussion on this forum, and would ask that users refrain from inflammatory language.

There was no belief in the state of the headstones, it was fact and plain to see by all including those that had undertaken the strimming. A complete lack of respect.
