Wivenhoe & District Sporting Facilities Trust (W&DSFT) are looking for three new people to join the Trust.
Wivenhoe & District Sporting Facilities Trust (W&DSFT) - are looking for three people to join the Trust to ensure they make the Trust’s vision a reality. Ideally, they are seeking people who can take on the key roles of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.
The W&DSFT is responsible for the strategic leadership and governance of the charity’s activities and the achievement of its charitable purpose in line with charity law. The Trust’s aim is to provide sporting and recreational opportunities and to develop a prestigious sporting facility at the Broad Lane in Wivenhoe.
Currently three separate sports clubs use the facilities at Broad Lane.
· The site has been the home to the Wivenhoe Tennis Club since 2001.The club has four superb floodlit all weather courts and the club participates in several leagues and also runs its own leagues. As well as having over 100 adult members and over 50 juniors they also hire out the tennis courts to members of the public.
· Wivenhoe Town FC have a senior team who play in the Thurlow Nunn First Division – South, step six of the non-league pyramid. WTFC also offer Ladies football and Walking football in addition to a youth set up for ages from Under 7 to Under 18.
· Wivenhoe Tempest FC helps develop young footballers in the Wivenhoe and Colchester area and currently has 21 youth teams from the age of Under 7 to Under 18.
The Trust needs to reflect the skills and experience needed to help us continue and expand the work of the charity.
Any applications would help diversify in terms of age profile, skills, experience and background and they are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate that they can fulfil one or more of the following skills or experience categories:
- Strategic Leadership
- Understanding and developing sporting activities
- Financial acumen/accounting skills
- Organising/Admin skills
- Other skills and experience demonstrably beneficial to the Trust and its objectives of expanding and developing the facilities at the Broad Lane site.
Trust membership requires a significant commitment of time and energy. Potential trustees must be eligible in line with Charity Commission regulations which are available from www.charitycommission.gov.uk
