Does anyone know (Peter?) when we can book to get a flu jab? I'm reluctant to phone the surgery in the current situation.
I assume that the NHS will contact older residents for Covid boosters (?).

I think they're still finalising the details for the Covid boosters, but yes, I strongly suspect they will contact people directly. (I'm no expert but do keep an eye on these things, being CEV)
Regarding flu jabs, I think the pharmacy may already be taking bookings, not sure about the surgery.

The Wivenhoe Medical Centre has now received their supply of flu vaccinations for Wivenhoe patients and will again be operating a major vaccination programme as previously on two dates, Saturday 25th September and Saturday, 2nd October. A team of 7 clinicians has been assembled to give these vacinations. As previously, the Surgery are asking people to not take their cars down Phillip Road to the Medical Centre on those Saturday mornings but to park elsewhere unless you are disabled and have previously advised the Reception staff of your need to been seen in your car. Special arrangements have been made for people with mobility problems. Supporting the team of 7 clinicians will be a team of admin. staff who will be booking patients in and ushering them through the building.
These two pre-booked flu clinics are available for patients to book into on Saturday 25th September (over 65s) and Saturday 2nd October (under 65s). If you normally have a flu jab and you have not yet booked one then please contact the Surgery on 01206 824447 to arrange an appointment. If you are unable to make the dates mentioned then please do still contact the Surgery so that an alternative date can be offered.
Regarding Covid booster jabs, please wait to be contacted by the NHS as these are not going to be handled in the same way as flu jabs unfortunately.

For those of you who didn't fancy the 2 1/2 hour wait in the queue yesterday to get your Covid booster jab at the William Loveless Hall in Wivenhoe, there are plenty of other places you can still get the booster jab. See: sneevaccine.org.uk/location-of-walk-in-clinics/
And if you haven't yet got your flu jab, do call the Surgery (01206 824447). They will happily make an apointment for you to call in and get one.

Am told that there is no queueing at the Community Football Stadium. Apparently easy to book an appointment there or you might even be able to just turn up and get jabbed.

From one of my Wivenhoe PPG members earlier: My daughter had her booster this morning via an NHS booking which was accessible yesterday morning, but not on previous occasions. In addition, when I passed the walk in booster venue in Culver Square yesterday, there was only a short queue and so this option should be considered.
Most importantly people can check dates and times of all walk in booster clinics in the area by visiting the website: www.sneevaccine.org.uk This website is updated daily at 5pm.
And if anyone has concerns about particular vaccines they should contact the staff at the main vaccination centre, on 0344 2573961. The British Heart Foundation also has some very useful, and comprehensive, information about the different vaccines, their safety and any side effects.
Hope helpful to everyone wanting to get a booster jab as soon as possible.
