Wivenhoe Town Council has 3 vacancies so there will be a by-election on 5th August.
The postal vote deadline is today at 5pm.
It would be great to see the candidates introduce themselves here...

Hello, I am Jill Cowling-Newell and I am also standing. As a straight talking mum to four daughters, nana to one and daughter who cares for her 92 year old mum, I understand the pressures and struggles of daily life as well as the pleasures and achievements and recognise how the local community plays such an important role. I have lived in Wivenhoe for nearly 16 years , had children go to Broomgrove Juniors and Millfields then onto the Colne Community school and college. In the past I have volunteered at the Wivenhoe Parent and Toddler group and the Monday Club for the over 60s. I believe our council should represent ALL of Wivenhoe and I would like to hear from people what really matters to them. I am opposed to the eviction of our sorting office. Our posties are part of our community, sometimes being the only friendly face that an isolated person might see. Often they are the ones who raise the alarm when something is amiss. They have been key workers during the pandemic and deserve to be treated better. I am dedicated to ensuring fairness and equality to everyone. I always look for practical solutions to get the job done.

Thanks for posting Jill - just for clarity, I am already a councillor, so not standing in this election.
