I thought I would rekindle a post from the former forum around swimming in the river, we were discussing the safety aspects recently when an old Wivenhoevian mentioned that discarded welding rods possibly from the shipyard often “rose up from the mud” - When the tide comes in it can hide what lies beneath, caution is the best policy when leaping into the river. I thought it worth sharing as the weather heats up. wivenhoeforum.co.uk/discussion/189/estuary-swimming
