For those yet to have their Covid jab, I thought I'd share my experience which may be useful to some yet to get theirs. I read that my age group would qualify for jabs the following week, so looked on the NHS site where I was able to book both first and second jabs (link below). www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/It gives choices of locations, dates and times. I chose the Colchester Football ground. Last week I went, plenty of parking, plenty of helpful stewards, no queuing, in and out within five minutes, all very well organised. For me, no side effects. For info., I later received a text from the Wivenhoe GPs inviting me to book an appointment for the jab, although a week or so after I'd booked via the web site. So if you're unsure about going to the NHS website, it seems a invite will arrive once you qualify.

Very helpful, thanks for sharing. When I went for my vaccination I asked if they generally had unused doses left at the end of the day. They confirmed it and I asked if my wife, who is in the age cohort below me could be vaccinated too. They agreed so it is worth asking.

I was checking to see whether I could book my second jab (I've not had an invitation to do so, but thought I'd have a look) and I could do so (for w/c 20/4), but the nearest centre offered was the Col U stadium. My first jab was at the surgery on East Hill, so not sure why that is no longer an option - booked up already maybe....

Although as I mentioned above I booked via the NHS site at Col Utd ground, out of interest I did click the link sent later by the Wivenhoe practice, and the choices of venue were different.

It looks like those over 50 can now book their jabs via the link I posted above.
